Position description
The Department of English Literatures at ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Allison University invites applications for the following stipendiary position:
ENGL 1201C: Introduction to Principles of Literary Analysis, Fall 2026: This course will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. (3 contact hours per week) with an expected enrollment of 38.
Note: ENGL 1201 is offered in multiple sections each year and introduces students to critical and academic approaches to reading, writing, and thinking about literature. Each section has its own reading list, set by the individual instructor, and includes a balanced representation of fiction, poetry, and drama, drawn from a range of historical periods. Each section offers a range of writing opportunities.
Applicants should be experienced, versatile, and dedicated teachers with a graduate degree in English literature, preferably a doctorate. Candidates should submit a letter of application, a complete curriculum vitae, and a one-page description of their approach to teaching the course. Applicants should also arrange for two confidential letters of support to be sent directly to the email address below.
