As November begins, our thoughts turn to Remembrance Day, and the sacrifices made by countless individuals throughout history. 

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the University will be closed and the flags will be lowered to half-mast in observance of Remembrance Day. 

I encourage students, faculty, and staff to engage with this important day, honouring the traditions we have upheld since 1919. Here are several ways you can participate in reflection.  

Reflections on Campus 

MtA Spiritual Care invites the University community to engage in reflections on the themes of war, peace-building, and community. Outreach tables will be in the following locations this week:  

• Thursday, Nov. 6, from 1–3 p.m. | Library 
• Friday, Nov. 7, from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. | McCormack Gym, as part of Open House  
• Monday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. | Jennings 

All are welcome to visit and participate in this meaningful reflection. 

Community Remembrance Day Service 

You’re invited to join the Sackville Royal Canadian Legion at Convocation Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. The service will conclude with a march to the Cenotaph in Memorial Park, located at the corner of Bridge and Weldon Streets, for additional Remembrance Day observances. 

������Ƶ A Remembers 

The ������Ƶ A Remembers video can be viewed on the University’s YouTube, which includes the annual reading of the 163 members of the ������Ƶ Allison community who gave their lives to ensure our freedom. 

At the library, a special book display titled “Called to War” highlights books that explore the experiences and sacrifices of those who served. The display will be available throughout the month of November.  The Remembrance Day slideshow “Fallen of WWI” is also available on the . 

We hope this time will be a meaningful way for all members of ������Ƶ Allison University to remember, honour, and work for peace.
