������Ƶ Allison University will soon welcome approximately 700 new students to campus for Orientation 2026.

This year’s theme, Find Your Wings, captures how throughout their time at ������Ƶ Allison, students will have opportunities to learn and discover who they are both personally and academically at the beginning of a journey of finding their wings.  

International Orientation kicks off Monday, Aug. 31 and will run until Wednesday, Sep. 2. Pre-Orientation for new Meighen Centre students will also take place from Aug. 31–Sep. 2, allowing students living with documented disabilities or medical conditions extra time and resources to transition to university life.  

Residence Move-in Day will take place on Thursday, Sep. 3, and Orientation events for all new students will run until Monday, Sept. 7, with a variety of programming to support students as they prepare for life on campus for the 2026-27 academic year.  

Third-year international relations student Kathryn Canning from Enfield, NS is this year’s Orientation Chair. She has been working with the ������Ƶ Allison Students’ Union (MASU) as well as departments and leaders across campus to create engaging programming for new and returning students.  

“Orientation is not possible without collaboration and it has been lovely to work alongside people who are as passionate about Orientation as I am.”

Canning says this year’s theme highlights how transformative the university experience truly is for students.  

“One of my goals for Orientation is to showcase the resources and experiences at MtA that may just help students to "Find Your Wings!"  

In many ways I have found my own wings at MtA, so I hope that the new students will come to feel the same.”

Director of Student Experience and Strategic Initiatives Matt Maston is looking forward to welcoming students back to campus and connecting with new students and their families as they begin their ������Ƶ Allison journey.

“My greatest hope is that students develop a sense of belonging with the University and the community during Orientation. This sense of belonging can happen in so many unique ways, but is what is most important.”

For Maston, this year’s Orientation theme speaks to the significance of beginning university, which is a major transition that can shape students’ lives.

“Students often find out a great deal about what is important to them and it starts when they step foot on campus. The theme really fits this idea.”
