Introducing ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison's new strategic plan

Broad minds. Bold futures. Lifelong connections.

For generations of alumni, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison has been more than a campus. It has been a place of belonging and becoming. The University’s new Strategic Plan speaks to that legacy, setting out a vision for the future that feels both fresh and deeply familiar.

Its vision is to enhance lives, foster lifelong connections, and create prosperity for our people, province, country, and beyond. Ambitious but not abstract, it reflects something many Allisonians have long understood — that the influence of a ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison education is never confined to the years spent in Sackville. It extends outward — into careers, communities, families, and the wider world.

At the centre of the plan are four pillar goals:

  • future readiness
  • student thriving
  • employee thriving
  • lifelong connections

Education not as transaction, but as transformation. Students equipped not only with knowledge, but with curiosity, adaptability, and the capacity to lead in a rapidly changing world. Faculty and staff recognized as essential contributors to a culture of excellence and meaningful impact. The understanding that the relationships formed at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison remain one of the institution’s most powerful and lasting gifts.

For alumni, that final element may resonate most deeply. Lifelong connection is not a slogan; it is an acknowledgement of something real. ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison endures because it continues to matter to those who passed through it. By naming lifelong connection as a core part of its vision, the Strategic Plan affirms that the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison story does not end at Convocation — it deepens over time.

The plan is also shaped by several guiding commitments:

  • a transformative student experience
  • reconciliation, equity, and accessibility
  • organisational excellence
  • fiscal and environmental sustainability

It identifies four directions for action as well:

  • student life and success
  • community, culture, and well-being
  • future-focused liberal arts and sciences
  • operational and digital transformation

Together, they describe a ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison that is not standing still, but pledging to honour the enduring power of a liberal arts and sciences education while responding thoughtfully to the changing world.

What makes this strategic plan especially compelling is that it does not read as a departure from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison’s identity, but as an articulation of it. The qualities alumni have long cherished — academic excellence, personal growth, creativity, and connection — remain at its heart. For readers of the Record, the Strategic Plan may be best understood renewed expression of what ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison has always made possible, and of what it still aspires to become.
