ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison’s new sports and recreation centre is a historic project that supports athletics excellence, student experience, community engagement, and health and wellness in our region.
A campaign is underway to collectively fundraise $250,000 for the project and name the building’s observation deck in memory of Ross Young (’84). Family, friends, members of the Class of 1984, former teammates, and the players Ross coached and mentored are joining this fundraising campaign.
Ross Young (1962-2021) played and coached ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵies Football and throughout his life remained committed to youth in sport. He coached minor hockey, brought minor football to Souris, PE, was head coach of Holland College’s football team, and is remembered for always bringing out the best in people. His career in the private and public sectors included serving as an MLA.
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison’s new recreation centre opens in 2031 and will include 26,000 square feet of versitile playing space. The Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Health and Wellness will connect to Alumni Field and include removable field turf, hard courts, a community walking track, and a locker room for the football team. A second-floor observation deck will overlook the playing surfaces.
The Ross Young Observation Deck honours a place where Ross would have cheered on ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Allison student-athletes. We welcome your support of this important fundraising campaign.
